Since Instagram gained momentum in being the most popular social media app among the youth, even exceeding facebook; it took the concept of ‘photo gallery’ to a whole new digital level. Facebook had already done its job in making people publiicize more and more pictures and videos of each and every moment of their lives and sometimes even of their private lives, but with Instagram we scaled up to the next version of sharing. For me, it was a medium to ‘maintain’ a profile portraying a visual representation of my personal life. I starting posting in Insta from 2015, at that time still in a committed relationship with Facebook and in two to three years, ditched her for my new found love. The break was tragic but now facebook are back to being friends! 😛
Anyways, I’ll share 3 posts of mine when I had initially stared using Insta and where I look unflattering or embarrassing or funny(according to me ofcourse!) and 3 more recent pics where I look flattering or good. This is too show how I progressed in using this app and how much more conscious and choosy I have become in posting pics( 1 of every 4600….8 clicks!)
The unflattering/embarrasing ones!
- This was uploaded way back in 2016!( this seems so far away now, doesn’t it?) Well, I dont’ find this one flattering at all. This one is purely pretentious in nature and infact is taken in a dressing room with a t-shirt whose price tag is hanging in carefully hidden in the back of my neck! (yes, judge all you want!) I liked it then because I found it to be ‘cool’ and still do infact because it reminds me of my youthful days! 😛 Those fancy specs and that little mustache has now no existence. Anyways, I still admit that it is a pure wanna be pic and so kinda embarrassing too.
2. If it was not for the location( which is GOA!!!) and my funky little with that shady blue shades, I really would not have uploaded this picture. Even while typing this now, my cheeks are red! that’s how embarrassing it is for me!
3. With that googled caption and my ‘pretending to be’ random expression you can see how damn pretentious this pic is! This is really very unflattering. But there was a time when I used to like this pic a lot; mainly because it was clicked from a DSLR and so it fitted my childish definition of being ‘coooool’
The Flattering ones!
- Well, some might say that this one is also quite pretentious. Yes it is, but at the same time I find this picture to be quite flattering too and it is quite evident. It shows the other aspect of my personal life where I had worked hard to achieve the kind of muscles(quite attractive, isn’t it? 😉 )and physique that I have today and so it makes me feel good about my self whenever I look at it.
This is one of the more recent pictures of me. Again, I like it and find it to be flattering because it highlights another aspect of my life i.e. travelling. Also the story behind getting this picture clicked is quite an adventurous one (save that for some other day!)
3. This is probably the only ‘old’ picture of me which I don’t find to be embarrassing or unflattering. I just love this pic because it marks that stage of my life where I had left my ‘teen’ (and even puberty) days behind and started walking in the path of maturity( atleast physically!) The hairstyle, my clean shaved face, the background, the shirt, that band everything just seems perfect and will always carry with it a glimpse of nostalgia. Okay I need a tissue!
Well, in the next 1 year so there is a huge possibility that the unflattering pics can completely disappear from my profile and my opinions about my flattering pics can transform as fast as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra! 😛
